Songcraft will feature unique contemporary arrangements of some of the greatest popular songs from the 1940s to the present: from Duke Ellington and Cole Porter, to Stevie Wonder and Prince. Bejerano, a twelve year veteran of Lifetime Grammy Achievement award winner Roy Haynes’s band, and having performed internationally with the likes of Dave Holland, Pat Metheney, Ron Carter, Russell Malone, Roy Hargrove and Ignacio Berroa, began his collaboration with Sessoms two years ago, and there was an immediate connection from the first note. Dubbed a “powerhouse” by Quincy Jones, with an “exquisite voice” (Billboard), Vivian Sessoms’s resume as a featured and backing vocalist is incredible: Stevie Wonder, Cher, Christina Aguilera, Patti Labelle, and Chris Botti to name but a few. Equally at home in R&B, Jazz, rock, and pop, Vivian’s career as a solo artist has also blossomed, with numerous headlining performances at major venues in the U.S. and abroad, and the release of her sophomore CD, Heart, in 2015.

Eminent Slovakian drummer Martin Valihora brings his quartet of leading Slovakian musicians - bassist Juraj Griglak, guitarist Michal Bugala and keyboardist Eugen Vizvari. The head of this stellar assembly is an American singer Vivian Sessoms, who has collaborated with musicians such as Michael Jackson, Donna Summer, Sinead O Connor, Stevie Wonder, Victor Bailey and Darryl Jones.
The emerging Jazz For Sale Festival is closely related to what happened in the legendary club on M Street in Kosice Moldova, which began it's work in 1986 and has continuously featured jazz at least on a monthly basis. These interim concerts eventually led naturally to the festival, whose first edition took place in 1990, and has continued until now. The current focus is again associated with the Club M, but with it's demise in 2000, when the building in which the club is located was sold. With the association of Forst, who operated the club, began the project Visegrad Days and Jazz For Sale Festival. Consequently, the festival got its dramaturgy specification - indicated the performers and formation of the Visegrad grouping - Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. The aim of the festival is to bring the highest quality in it's presentation of individual participants, so each of the concerts of Jazz For Sale Festival is also an excellent opportunity for novices to jazz music, the development of which affects the possibility of direct contact with the performers and the creates an incentive and impetus to the development of the jazz scene in the region.

After the huge success of it's debut in April, the ONE DAY JAZZ FESTIVAL will happen for the second time this year. How again to tempt the unique musical delicacy of lovers of the best music. After the renowned American drummer Chris Dave, who headlined ONE DAY SPRING JAZZ FESTIVAL, in November it will present the next Slovakia jazz icon. And again, brilliant Slovak and drummer festival's father, Martin Valihora is curating. "I am delighted that the music scene is returned to the premises at Istropolis in Bratislava, where we can experience beautiful and quality music for a change in comfortable seating and perfect conditions for listening to the music. The tip is that we try every year to bring the Slovak audience something amazing. We believe that the diversity of the genres is appealing to all".
The headliner of the upcoming ONE DAY JAZZ FESTIVAL is global jazz icon & charismatic bassist, singer and songwriter Avishai Cohen and his project the Avishai Cohen Trio, which currently collects unrelenting ovations around the world. Discovery by the legendary jazz pianist Chick Corea is to his credit, and he has gone on to perform with stars like Bobby McFerrin, Roy Hargrove, Herbie Hancock, Alicia Keys and the London and Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. "Avishai Cohen is one of the artists that I wanted to invite to the festival for some time. He is a unique virtuoso and singer whose melodic and lyrical compositions in jazz makes for an even broader audience, "says Martin Valihora. "I had the honor to share the stage with Avishai at New York's Blue Note, where we played several joint concerts with Hiromi, and it was a great & thrilling ride to see him in action," says Martin, who has extended invitations to such stars as Chris Dave, Chaka Khan, George Duke, Jan Garbarek, Frank McComb and many others.
Another exclusive foreign guest that evening in the Great Hall of the Bratislava ISTROPOLIS is the breathtaking American singer Vivian Sessoms, who has performed with artists ranging from Joe Cocker to Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Sinead O Connor, Pink and many others. How did the American phenomenal wonder come to the attention of the festivals organizer? Pianist Peter Martin will resume his eponymous series at the Sheldon Concert Hall with a performance featuring guest vocalist Vivian Sessoms (pictured) at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10. Bassist Bob Hurst and drummer Ulysses Owens will join Martin and Sessoms for the show. Sessoms is a native New Yorker who's been performing professionally since she was a child, but got her first widespread exposure as a grown-up through working with film composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. Since then, she's developed a solo career as a cabaret performer, and has recorded and/or toured as a background singer with the likes of P. Diddy, Michael Jackson, Donna Summer, Sinead O'Connor, Stevie Wonder and Lalah Hathaway. Sessoms also has sung on many national commericals as a session vocalist, and most recently has partnered in the neo-soul group Albright with multi-instrumentalist/producer Chris Parks. Tickets are $50 for VIP seating, $30 orchestra, $25 balcony and $15 students, and will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. this Monday, January 23 via MetroTix.
